Elena Zeppou has been selected for the 3rd International Exlibris Competition Varna, Largo Art Gallery, Varna, Bulgaria, August 2018. Its mission is to increase the interest of exlibris and traditional techniques of graphic art among art lovers, collectors, artists and students from art schools and universities.
The first edition of International Exlibris Competition Varna, held in 2014, was attended by 218 artists from 36 countries and in the second edition 308 artists from 47 countries submitted their works. A catalogue of the competition was printed in both previous editions. The competition exhibitions were shown in the Largo Art Gallery and in the following months they travelled to several cities in Bulgaria, where they were presented at art schools, universities of art and private galleries.
Artistic director of the third edition of International ExLibris Competition Varna is Bulgarian artist and master of exlibris Julian Jordanov. The chairman of the jury is Assoc. Prof. Dimo Kolibarov, artist, lecturer at the Graphics Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the National Academy of Fine Arts, Sofia, Bulgaria. The members of the jury are Assoc. Prof. Hristo Kerin (Bulgaria), artist, Head of the Department of Graphic Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts of VTU “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, Veliko Tarnovo, Anna Tikhonova (Belarus), artist, curator of the exlibris collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Minsk, Konstantin Antioukhin (Ukraine), artist and Dimo Milanov (Bulgaria), artist and co-founder of the competition.
In this edition First, Second and Third Prizes will be awarded again, as well as a Young Artist’s Award (under age of 30). The Association of Artists – Varna will again award its prize – plaque and diploma. For the second time this edition will be awarded the Special Prize after the name of Edward Penkov. We are grateful to the Istanbul ExLibris Society, which for the third time is a partner of the competition, providing the third prize.
