Alumna Jude Lau of The Printhaus invites you to:
CAB 2017: Cardiff Artistsʼ Books Event Theme: ʻSound and Booksʼ
Free entry, Saturday 9th September 10am–5pm
The Printhaus, Cardiff, CF11 9NL
CAB 2017 is a one-day event bringing together artists, writers and publishers from Cardiff and beyond. With a specific focus on promoting artistsʼ books, visitors will be able to learn more about the work in a relaxing, friendly environment.
Building on the Welsh capitalʼs growing interest in artistsʼ books – from Yellow Back Books pop-up Art Book Shop to the stunning collections at Cardiff School of Art & Design and Cardiff University – CAB 2017 is the start of something special.
With a firm focus on showcasing local talent, the event will feature a dedicated CAB table, exclusively for Cardiff-based artists to exhibit their work – providing a prominent platform for the up-and-coming!
From humble beginnings, CAB 2017 aims to mirror the DIY culture embodied by The Printhaus – Cardiffʼs independent, not-for-profit print workshop and community-minded art space.
Visitors will receive a limited edition ʻedibleʼ print! Yum. As well as a host of artist’s book stalls, CAB 2017 will include live performances, comic/zine workshops and an artist’s book surgery with Sarah Bodman.
After closing time, visitors are invited to stay on for an evening of drinks, music and excellent company.
Participants confirmed so far include: Alison Harvey (Special Collections and Archives, Cardiff University), Cinzia Mutigli, Corinne Welch, Chris Lloyd (Kitbooks), Doreen Barnaville (Cardiff School of Art & Design), Emily England, Freya Dooley, Gwion Christmas and Mas Woid (Grind Your Teeth), Kate Alizadeh, James Green, Jude Lau, Mary Ocana, Nick Hand (Bristol Letterpress Collective), Richard Cox, Rhiannon Lowe, Sarah Bodman (Centre for Fine Print Research, UWE), Sound Book Project, Stephanie Turnbull and Thomas Rolfe.
