MAMDP student to hold workshops over the summer

Printmaking Workshops

I will be running a series of workshops during the summer at Royal Oak Press:

Monotype – a free and experimental way to develop a unique image by overlaying and combining colours like Barbara Rae or by drawing onto an inked plate like Degas.

Collagraph – creating an intaglio plate using surfaces that accept ink such as carborundum for intense darkness to areas that wipe clean for ghostly whites plus ever other imaginable material to create the tones in between to build the image you want.

Embossing – explore the beauty and elegance of embossed and debossed surfaces creating a plate using cut shapes and found materials. Pressing dampened paper into the plate to produce a three dimensional print with the image formed by light and shadow.

Saturday 13th July                           Collagraph

Thursday 18th July                 Embossing

Saturday 20th July                  Monotype

Wednesday 24th July               Collagraph

Tuesday 30th  July                  Monotype

Saturday 3rd August               Embossing

Each workshop will start at 10.00 a.m. with an introduction to the process and a demonstration and end at 4.00 p.m.

Lunch will be provided, hopefully in the garden as well as tea and coffee throughout the day. All materials will be included.

Cost of the workshops is £60 per day payable once your booking has been confirmed. Each workshop will be limited to a maximum of six people.

The objective is to learn, experiment and have fun rather than to produce a masterpiece. If you would like to join one or more of these workshops please send an e-mail or call me.
